Spiral Heat Exchangers

COMPACT & EASY ACCESS
The spiral heat exchanger is extremely compact due to its wrapped cylindrical arrangement and requires minimum installation space and servicing area. The entire heat transfer surface is normally accessible for inspection or manual cleaning simply by removing the covers.

SIMPLE CONSTRUCTION
The basic spiral element is constructed of two long metal strips rolled around an open split center forming two concentric spiral passages, one for each fluid.
SELF-CLEANING
The single-flow path eliminates bypassing and reduces fouling. Enhanced turbulence and shear due to the curved passages flush away deposits as they form.
COUNTER-FLOW
In liquid-to-liquid service, media stay fully countercurrent in long flow passages, permitting temperature crosses (eg. in heat recovery) and close temperature approaches (eg. if precise wall temperature control is critical).
HIGH HEAT TRANSFER
Good flow distribution in single-flow channels combined with curvature induced secondary effects result in turbulent flow conditions even at low velocities of less than 2 ft/sec.
